Folding pocket knife Higonokami Holy Beasts Vermillion Bird by Nagao Kanekoma, made in Japan.
Blade Material / Steel : Warikomi Blue steel (Aogami). Handle Material : Brass. Designation on Handle : Sadakoma Higonokami (Standard logo). Designation on Blade : Blue paper cutlery steel laminated. HRC : 62-64.
Over a century ago in 1894, the first-generation of Nagao Kanekoma Seisakusho, Komataro, began manufacturing as Hirata Knives in the future Miki city.
A Higonokami pocket knife was traditionally used for small jobs in and around the house, to peel an apple, to sharpen pencils, during camping trips.
Through five generations of succession, their Higonokami products have remained uniquely and exclusively passed down just by them within the lineage of Higonokami artisans.
So that their knives are the one and only authentic Higonokami. The name "higonokami" is now trademarked by the Miki Custom Knife Guild in Miki City near Osaka.
Other knifemakers of traditional style or modernized versions of higonokami must refer to their products as "Higo" or "Higonokami-style".
